How to Sign on Jlr Sdd Asking for Password

    Yeah - similar to my little Samsung - I just am a little nervous of it hanging halfway through something critical.
    Let's see what others have found
  3. I don't think any SDD operations are particularly taxing for a laptop. When I reconfigured a replacement ECU, SDD took about 15 seconds to download the data from the ECU, but about 10 - 15 minutes to upload it again.
    The laptop didn't seem stressed in any way after this, and any other calibrations I did subsequently.

    Well - I have got a clean 32bit load of W7 sp1 up and running on my Samsung N210 Plus notepad.
    I download the mongoose drivers and that all looks OK.
    I installed SDD 160.00_FULL.exe as suggested by CarTools.
    I can get it up and running but it stops saying "not connected to a network" - which is true of course.
    By clicking on the system driven Diag tab at the top middle banner I can get to the SDD screen.
    Clicking on the go arrow goes to another screen which says "Network connection not detected" but offers "use Continue to proceed offline"
    But this brings up a screen that says offline login not available but allows me to to "Work with limited functionality which will expire (tomorrow)"
    is that what I can expect to see or is there a fix?
    I have not dared plug the Mongoose into the car yet

    Update - I restored my notebook to before I installed SDD 160_FULL.exe (still had the mongoose drivers in) and tried again using the SDD 159 from the CD that came with the Mongoose from CarTools (I copied that on a spare pc with the Virus protection turned off - to a USB and used that)- Then loaded 7-Zip and then ran the patch rar file on that cd - this time I got to offline validate and entered the username JLRA8172 and password L538X760 - seems OK so far .

    Now - I Just click the JLR SDD icon and allow - close the tab about not being connected to the internet - refuse invitations about internet browsers - and wait until the SSD finishes loading - the last bit takes a while. - then it looks like I'm in - click past warnings and it gets to Connect Battery support and Auto read Vin.

    Does that sound safe to go and plug it in?
    If so it would seem I am on the same page as Nodge68 so hopefully I can follow his experiences.

    All this was done with the notebook set to 2010 after it's setup and before loading programmes
    - same date and time as today just 10 years earlier - hopefully that's OK

  6. I've 159, which seems to work just fine, with the same username and PW.

    I tested mine by plugging in the Mongoose to laptop and letting the drivers install. Once the Mongoose was installed, I plugged Mongoose into the OBD2 port, and the clicking the Auto Read VIN tab. It pulled the VIN up in a few seconds, so I knew it was reading the vehicle data ok.
    You can then click on the tabs at the bottom of the screen, and see what you can do.

    It'll ask if memory seats are installed at a point in the connection process, but that's the only thing I find odd.

    Interestingly I can't find anywhere in SDD where it's possible to view the injector numbers. I had to use my Delphi clone to read them, then confirmed the new numbers were uploaded by SDD, again with the Delphi.

    I've done every calibration I could see, and I also seem to have updated the CJB, as my 58 SE now has lane change indicators, which it didn't have before I connected it to SDD.:)

    They must have realised there's a 'copy' of their software being passed round. When it updates online they will take info from the host machine like serial numbers. If they repeatedly see the same copy being used, they will provide it with a special update that stops it working. The old date thing... the software must have some sort of date timeout as part of it's license. So putting the date back solves this.

    Right - I plugged it in - ignition on - battery bypass checked - read VIN - up it came - then got cold feet and came off to look for some sort of instructions before I start jabbing buttons :(

    Time to add a SDD to my portofolio :) I will run this on a virtual machine where microcat with russian "license" resides.

    In regards to hanging, is not handing on lack of resources at least not these days. It usually hangs because although it's usb 2.0 it usually communicates via a serial interface behind closed doors where the speed is not that great.

    Out of interest, does your FL2 have lane change indicators?

  14. That's it. One press of the stalk gives 3 flashes of the indicators. I don't remember mine having those, until I let SDD do some updates, but I could be wrong, if yours already has it.

    Ah yes I remember using SDD on Jaguar many years ago and there were some options and updates, that was one and I remember there is something about these windows they should go up/down all the way not requiring me to hold the button for that. Also the lock option needs looking at.
    I will remember everything once I have the unit and check it out. I will mostly use it for resetting adaptations and perhaps some module updates, it will prob interpret better manufacturer specific codes.
    And program keys and stuff. Nice thing to have, I did have the vcm2 but sold it and those are expensive nowadays, however with these mangoose available this is no longer a serious investment.
    Why I had SDD? because if you swap the cluster on Jaguar it will lock the immobiliser even if you put original one back in. Might be the case with FL2

    First thing I'll try is disable those headlight washers. I don't need them and I was the car every Saturday
  17. I suppose that makes sense, although the bottle on headlamp washer equipped vehicles is twice the size, so needs filling very infrequently.
    I actually quite like the headlamp washers myself, but then I tend to let the rain wash my vehicles. :oops:

    My reasoning is different, basically I will polish and make them nice then use some 3m lacquer/protector don't want any splashing on them after. I am sure I can program the configuration without those, although I am not sure a FL2 without that exists.

    Models without the washers do exist.
    Although to stop the headlamp washers splashing the paint, you simply turn the headlamps off when you use the screen washers.
    The headlamp washers only function, when the headlamps are actually on. ;)

    I am probably a top champion in laziness. That is why I leave them on auto and never touch and usually when it rains there is low light so headlights go on :)
